It took an apartment filled with second-hand furniture gems found at thrift stores to do it, but Rock Hill's Rashon Carraway got a few minutes of fame Thursday rather than 15 seconds. Carraway, 26, made an appearance on the nationally-televised Nate Berkus Show.
Berkus, whose show has been on since September, is probably best known as Oprah Winfrey's interior designer. His show was an offshoot of his many appearances on Oprah's show that catapulted Berkus into a national figure.
Carraway, known as Mr. Goodwill Hunting, is an online blogger who shares tips for finding great deals and great stuff to save a few bucks. Someone from the show saw Carraway's blog, contacted him about doing a video about creating style on a shoestring for its House Proud segment, and Carraway jumped at the chance to show off how he can create style without spending all the money somebody might have.
Carraway's blog has hundreds of local followers and a loyal fan base.
My blog is to help people, to show them how to use those inexpensive finds, Carraway said.
