Legal action will be taken against 320 school Principals who did not pay attention to destroy mosquito breeding places in school premises.
Yesterday, on the third day of the National Mosquito Control Week checks were carried out on the mosquito breeding places in schools. The Health Ministry said that 6012 schools were checked yesterday. Potential Mosquito breeding places were identified in 2548 of them. The Ministry said that water with mosquito larvae was found in 639 schools. The authorities were instructed to destroy them immediately. Many school children became prey to dengue and other mosquito borne diseases during the recent past. The Ministry points out that the lack of interest shown by the school authorities put the children at risk. Minister Maitreepala Sirisena has instructed the relevant authorities to take legal action against the concerned authorities. Today is the 4th day of the National Mosquito Control Week. The houses are being checked today.
