Number of welfare programmes launched in Mulaitivu and Kilinochchi

A number of welfare projects worth more than 100 million rupees have been launched for the people living in Mulaitivu and Kilinochchi areas under the Uthuru Wasanthaya programme.

Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa distributed tractors, bowzers and fishing gear worth 60 million rupees for the farmers’ and fisheries organizations in those districts.  Loans amounting to 75,000 rupees were granted to more than 500 families. The  Dharmapuram mixed school in Kilinochchi and Nagendra Vidyalaya in Puliyam-pokkanai that were damaged due to terrorist activities were vested in the students. 12 million rupees has been spent on the renovation work. A student aid programme has been launched to grant 5,000 rupees each for 101 students in the Mulaitivu district who have passed the GCE  O level examination. The officials in the education offices in Mulaitivu and Kilinochchi districts were provided motor cycles under the Uthuru Wasanthaya programme. Governor of the Northern Province G.A. Chandrasiri, Parliamentarians Tharanath Basnayake and Sri Ranga also participated in the occasion.
