The fish market complex in Peliyagoda has been vested in the public.
The fish market was constructed in Peliyagoda under the Colombo city restructuring programme. It was inaugurated this evening under the patronage of the President. The market complex spans 3.2 hectares. It consists of 148 wholesale stalls and 128 retail stalls. The market is constructed at the expenditure of 1.9 billion rupees. The market complex will provide more convenience in place of the St. John’s fish market which lacked adequate space and facilities. Ministers, Parliamentarians and a large number of people participated in the inauguration of the fish market.
