The External Affairs Ministry has said that reports have not been received yet of any Sri Lankans who might have been affected by the clashes reported in Syria.
Director General of Public Commissions at Ministry, Sarath Dissanayake has told the media that the Ministry has not received any Sri Lankans affected or injured in Syrian clashes.
The foreign media has reported that clashes have taken place in several cities in Syria including its capital Damascus. The clashes have taken place with people taking to the streets calling for an end to the emergency laws that have been put in place in the country for over four decades.
According to Dissanayake, there were not many Sri Lankans in Syria.
