The series of district seminars of the Divi Neguma programme was launched from Galle.
The seminars are aimed at creating awareness in the people on the project of one million home gardens. It was launched under the patronage of Minister Basil Rajapaksa at the Auditorium of the Siri Dhamma Vidyalaya in Galle. Addressing the seminar the Minister said that the nutrition level of the people has fallen not due to poverty but due to wrong food habits. He said that the nutrition level is expected to improve through this programme. Senior Minister A.H.M. Fowzi, Minister Piyasena Gamage, peoples’ representatives in the District and government officials participated in the occasion. The Minister also inspected the Galle bus stand which is under construction. The government has allocated 281 million rupees in this connection. The bus stand is complete with all modern amenities including a shopping complex. An overhead bridge is being constructed linking the bus stand with the railway station. Chief Minister of the Southern province Shan Wijayalal De Silva also participated in the occasion.
