The friendship between Japan and Sri Lanka which was not broken due to the Tsunami has been fastened amidst the sound of Pirith chanting.
Ashirvada Poojas and Seth Pirith chanting were held at temples throughout the country and at the Temple Trees. The programme organized by the Cultural Department to invoke blessings on the victims was held under the guidance on prof. Ven. Bellanwila Wimalaratana Thera. Minister T.B. Ekanayake was amongst the people who participated in the religious programme held at the Bellanwila temple. A religious function was held near the ‘Dharmayatanaya’ under the guidance of Ven. Elle Gunawansa Thera to invoke blessings on the Japanese people. It was organized by the Colombo YMBA.
A Pahan Pooja was held near the Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura to invoke blessings on the Japanese people. Members of the Maha Sangha and Minister S.M. Chandrasena were amongst those who participated in the occasion.
