The cricket fans in Sri Lanka have set an example to the entire world.
Addressing a media briefing today IGP Mahinda Balasuriya said that maximum security will be provided for the encounter between New Zealand and Sri Lanka tomorrow. The IGP said that no one will be permitted to carry liquor to the stadium. Crackers and fire works will also be totally banned from the stadium. He said that the spectators will be allowed to take papers and pens to write slogans in support of their teams. He called upon the spectators to abide by the rules in entering the ground during this final match as well. He requested them to return to their homes peacefully after enjoying the match.
Meanwhile Tournament Director of World cup 2011 Suraj Dandeniya said that the International Cricket Council was amazed by the security provided for the encounters held in Sri Lanka. He said that the main concern of ICC was security. He stressed that Sri Lanka is the forerunner in providing security without inconveniencing the people. He said that when bidding for the Commonwealth games Sri Lanka can inform about the example set by the Police and the security forces in conducting the people to the ground.
