Charleston's 437th Airlift Wing is getting a new commander in a formal change of command ceremony.
Col. Erik Hansen will replace Col. John Wood in a ceremony Tuesday at the Joint Air Base in Charleston.
Hansen currently serves as special adviser to the U.S. transportation secretary in Washington.
Wood has been commander since May 2009 and is scheduled to transfer to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey and assume command of the 87th Air Base Wing.
Charleston's airlift wing flies troops, passengers, military equipment and cargo worldwide.
