A Beaufort County man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in a robbery that lead to the death of an 81-year-old man.
The Beaufort Gazette reports 42-year-old Timothy Clint Skinner of Burton pleaded guilty to strong-armed robbery Tuesday as his murder trial was to begin.
Skinner and Kenneth Williams, also of Burton, were both charged with murder in a 2007 attack on Jack Koch of Port Royal. Koch was assaulted causing a fatal heart attack when the men robbed his house.
Williams was convicted of murder last year and was sentenced to 30 years. During that trial, a prosecutor said Williams was the main assailant and there was no evidence putting Skinner in the house when the beating occurred.
