In an ongoing Columbia murder trial today, an admitted associate of the Bloods street gang fingered another alleged Bloods associate as being the killer of a 17-year-old Columbia youth.
Street gang members and associates rarely testify in open court against each other.
Cola Fred Taylor, 24, fired a volley of shots from a .38 caliber pistol, killing the youth, testified Michael Douglas.
Taylor is on trial for murder in Richland County on charges he killed Sintray Bell in the early morning hours of May 8, 2009, in north Columbia’s Greenview community .
Douglas, who dropped out of Spring Valley High School in the 11th grade, testified he was riding around in a car that night with Taylor when Taylor became excited about seeing a young man wearing black beads — a sign of the rival Folk Nation gang.
