More rehabilitated LTTE cadres released

A group of 206 LTTE cadres who surrendered to the security forces during the military conflicts in the North and the East has been released.

The group was released today after being rehabilitated for a period of one and half years. They were residents of Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Mullativu and Jaffna Districts. Additional Secretary to the Minister of Rehabilitation and Prisons P.W. Kodippili was the chief guest at the release of these cadres. The ceremony was held at the Vavuniya Cultural Centre.

Commissioner of Rehabilitation Brig. Sudantha Ranasignhe said they had undergone vocational courses and also a Psychiatric and Counsellor foundation course. They are due to participate in a Diploma Course. The released LTTE cadres were provided transport and security to travel to their areas of residence. He pointed out that 6100 LTTE cadre had already been rehabilitated and handed over to their parents to date.
