A 25-year-old man charged in the deaths of two Oconee County sisters in attacks that also left one of their husbands in critical condition has agreed to a plea deal to avoid execution.
William Cannon Gresham pleaded guilty Thursday to murder, kidnapping and burglary.
Gresham faces a possible life sentence. Prosecutor Chrissy Adams asked the judge to delay sentencing until Gresham can testify against 22-year-old Shawn Owens.
Investigators say 68-year-old Jerry Corley was able to make it to a home last April and call 911. Deputies found 62-year-old Audrey Scull's body in woods about an hour later, and the body of her sister and Corley's wife, 66-year-old Eloise Corley, was at a home in Salem.
Investigators say the rampage appeared to have begun as a home invasion.
