An exciting Cricket World Cup final is underway in India between the two South Asian Countries, Sri Lanka and India.
The match got underway in the Venkadai Stadium in Mumbai before nearly 35,000 spectators. Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Indian President Prathiba Patel were amongst a number of distinguished guests who had gathered to watch the match. Hundreds of thousands of Cricket fans throughout the world are watching the finals enthusiastically on television. The security in Mumbai is tightened with thousands of troops deployed to maintain security. A notable feature is that the cricket teams are staying in the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel which has been renovated after the terrorist attack in 2008. The Sri Lankan Skipper Kumar Sangakkara earlier won the toss and decided to bat first. As close friends in South Asia, India and Sri Lanka are facing each other for the first time in a final match. The world is watching closely to know who will emerge as the winner of the World Cup.
