Licences of buses that charge higher fares to be confiscated

The National Transport Commission has stressed that the licences of buses that charge higher bus fares will be confiscated.

Special teams have been deployed to inspect the irregularities covering all roads. The Commission has received complaints that the long distance buses are charging exorbitant fares. The Commission said that this decision has been made taking all the complaints into consideration. The Transport Board said that special Transport Services will be provided for the benefit of the people who leave for their home towns. The special bus service will be provided from April 8th to the 12th while the special trains will be operated from April 9th to the 17th . The Railways Control room has planned to operate trains in addition to the routine services between Colombo and Vavuniya, Matara and  Kandy.
