The Agriculture Minister says Sri Lanka is fortunate in the midst of the world food crisis. He pointed out that Sri Lanka had the ability to successfully confront the economic crisis.
Addressing a ceremony organized by the Agricultural Policy Council, the Minister said the farmer should be educated in this respect. The Minister pointed out that it is important the farmer as well as the people aware of this situation, particularly in using water sparingly and carrying cultivation which could sustain a draught. He said he believed that a new programme to apprise the farmers on cultivation methods should be launched immediately.
