Partially treated sewage has been flowing from the city of Lexingtons Coventry Woods waste water treatment plant since a power loss early today.
The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control warns that higher levels of bacteria are expected in Twelve Mile Creek and the Saluda River because of this incident. People who fish or boat in those waters should take note.
The power outage occurred at about 4 a.m. and was discovered about two hours later. It led to overflows and discharges of partially treated sewage at the treatment plant at 1000 Mallard Lakes Drive.Satellite image of 1000 Mallard Lakes Drive, location of the Coventry Woods Wastewater Treatment Plant
