Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa has emphasized that the Government has not engaged in any activity flouting international human rights regulations. He made this clarification at the Cabinet news briefing today.
The Minister said the Government has already relaxed several emergency regulations while some were still required to ensure peace and harmony in the country. He pointed out that baseless allegations being made by certain groups about human rights cannot be accepted. Sri Lanka has not done anything contrary to the international law and everything was being done to protect the country’s sovereignty. The country had its own laws and regulations and neither these laws and regulations nor the international laws had been violated at any time.
