The Consumer Affairs Authority said action has been taken against about 1000 traders who sold rice at high prices.
An official of the Authority said that these errant traders were nabbed during raids conducted since February this year. He said that the Authority had received complaints with regard to rice being sold at high prices. He further said that this followed the floods that had impacted the Northern Region. The official of the Authority added that the number of errant traders had dropped due to the constant raids the Authority was conducting.
