$10,000-plus raised for Special Olympics

More than $10,000 was raised over the weekend for Special Olympics athletes at an event at Cardinal Newman School in Forest Acres.
More than 300 people turned out to support the event, according to organizers, including Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott.
The Special Olympics provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
