DMV program offers amnesty for suspended drivers

Apr 11, 2011 7:50:00 PM - thestate.com
Some — but not all — drivers who have had their licenses suspended will have a chance at getting them back during a special amnesty week, state Department of Motor Vehicles officials said Monday.

Amnesty week will run May 16-20.

Details will be announced today at a news conference.

The program will not be open to drivers who have had licenses suspended for serious offenses, such as those involving drugs or alcohol. Any driver qualifying for amnesty will have to pay all fees and fines due.

This is the first time the DMV has had an amnesty program for suspended drivers.
