It’s only less than two more days for the National New Year, the most widely celebrated festival in the country. The entire country is getting ready to celebrate the New Year.
Civilians of Ampara, Batticaloa and Trincomalee Districts are enthusiastically getting ready to celebrate the New Year with the peaceful environment that has dawned to the East. Shops in almost every town are full to capacity with shoppers. Many New Year festivals have been organized in several areas.
The estate fraternity is also eager to celebrate the National New Year. Our correspondent reported that there was brisk buying in the Hatton as well as Badulla towns. Additional buses have been deployed to intercity transport services.
The Kurunegala town is not second to other areas. It was congested with shoppers in the past few days as well as today. Sufficient goods have been provided to economic centres via the CWE sans any dearth.
In the mean time Minister Keheliya Rambukwella handed over essential commodities to 500 low income families of Kundasale in Kandy. Nutritional packs for the New Year were presented to officials of the Bogambara Prisons under the patronage of Prisons Superintendent Tissa Jayasinghe.
