Haley signs on-the-record voting law

With music pumping through the State House lobby and about 200 supporters on hand, Gov. Nikki Haley signed her signature piece of legislation into law this morning, requiring lawmakers to cast more on-the-record votes.
"This is an absolute historical day," Haley told the crowd. "This is a three-year battle that we took on for the people of our state."
Opponents of the bill say the new law will make little difference since both the House and Senate have passed rule changes, requiring more recorded votes.
Haley and her legislative allies disagree. "Rules protect legislators," Haley said. "Laws protect people."
