Plans are afoot to increase flights between India and Sri Lanka.
The Civil Aviation Ministry said that bilateral talks in this respect will begin next week. A request to increase flights between the two countries was made during the President’s last tour of India. The Ministry hopes that a profitable service can be provided by the Sri Lanka and Mihin Lanka Airlines.
In the meantime, the Sri Lankan tourism Development Authority said that the highest number of tourists during the first quarter of this year had arrived from India. It said that during the first three months, 37 thousand 476 tourists had come from India. It is also reported that many tourists from countries such as Britain and Pakistan had also arrived in the island.
