The Kenyan Housing Minister has said that they will take the Janasevana One Million Houses Programme of Sri Lanka as a module for housing development in Kenya.
The Kenyan Housing Minister Soita Shitanada expressed this view during a meeting with Minister Wimal Weerawansa. The meeting took place at the UN Habitat Headquarters in the Kenyan capital Nairobi. It was held on the sidelines of the 23rd session of the UN Habitat Programme. Sri Lanka and Kenya have common experiences. Sri Lanka has mooted a successful programme to overcome issues. The Kenyan Housing Minister stated that he would soon be visiting Sri Lanka to study the housing programme. Minister Wimal Weerawansa said that Sri Lanka was always prepared to extend full support to make Kenya’s housing programme success. He pointed out that the basis of Sri Lankan success is implementing the programme with the contribution of the people.
