This is the spring season in Sri Lanka. As such there is a significant upsurge in the number of tourists visiting the Indian Ocean island.
Hotels within the country are full to capacity with tourists. They come in families and visit various attractive places in the island, which has a rich history for about 3000 years. The sea beaches, coral lagoons, national parks, historical sites and religious spots of Sri Lanka invite tourists from all over the world. The ancient cities of Sri Lanka bear testimony to historical facts. Those engaged in the tourism industry attribute the upsurge in tourist arrivals to the conducive environment prevailing in the country. General Manager of Tangerine Hotel in Kalutara Lakmal Jayasinghe said although there were less tourist arrivals during this period in the previous years, there is an influx of tourists this year.
It is the view of the tourists that they intend to visit again as there is a peaceful environment prevailing in the island.
