Three suspects who had assisted the Tamil Diaspora to extend their visas have been apprehended
Military Spokesman Major General Ubaya Medawala said that the world community should be aware of those who help the Tamil Diaspora domiciled in other countries. Three persons who had been issuing letters to Sri Lankan refugee applicants abroad stating that Sri Lanka was unsafe for living due to discrimination and violence have been taken into custody. The Military Spokesman said they were arrested from Sangaanai in Jaffna. He said that the suspects had demanded approximately 500,000 rupees each for such a doctored letter. He further said the Tamil Diaspora was using these letters for their advantage to extend their visas and the international community should be aware of it. Further investigations into the matter are currently underway.
