It has been confirmed that Sri Lanka is safe due to radiation leak. Tests carried on samples of milk have also consolidated this stand.
Chairman of the Atomic Energy Authority Prof. Wimaladharma Abeywickrema said that Samples of milk were tested for radioactivity due to the radiation leak which occurred in the Fukushima Nuclear power plant last month. Accordingly samples collected from Kotagala, Dambulla and Horana were sent for radioactive testing where they were confirmed negative. The Company in-charge of the maintenance reported that the impact of the Fukushima plant radiation leak can be stopped in the coming nine months.
