American skipper Brad Van Liew is heading toward South Carolina on the fourth leg of the Velux 5 Oceans race.
Van Liew's team says the Charleston native is expected to arrive Tuesday, finishing the 5,700-mile leg from Punta del Este, Uruguay.
Upon reaching the docks in Charleston, Van Liew will have a chance to reunite with his wife, Meaghan; 9-year-old daughter, Pate; and 6-year-old son.
Van Liew is currently the leader in the race as he skippers his 60-foot yacht.
After a layover in Charleston, the race concludes with a leg across the Atlantic Ocean to finish in France where it began last year.
