Professional golfer Dustin Johnson is the new face of the Myrtle Beach golf community, and marketing group Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday is banking on him attracting new visitors.
Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday and Johnson, a Coastal Carolina University alumnus and former Myrtle Beach resident, announced Monday that he would be the group’s spokesman through the end of the year.
“I’m obviously very excited,” Johnson said. “This is the first time I’ve done anything like this. [Myrtle Beach] is a place I’ve grown to love.”
He spent the day at TPC Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet filming a Golf Holiday commercial, and he will also be in print and radio ads.
Johnson will also participate in social media promotions, and an event in conjunction with Golf Holiday later this year is in the works, said Bill Golden, the president and chief executive of Golf Holiday. The details of the event, which may give golfers an opportunity to play with Johnson, are still being worked out, he said.
