A South Carolina teen has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing an 86-year-old man nearly two years ago.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reported that 17-year-old Breon Alexandre of Ridgeland pleaded guilty Monday in the death of Proctor Bright, a World War II veteran who once taught high school mechanics and welding.
Prosecutors say Bright was beaten, shot and stabbed at his Ridgeland home on July 18, 2008.
Prosecutor Duffie Stone says Alexandre also pleaded guilty to armed robbery and first-degree burglary. A Family Court judge had ruled last year that Alexandre could be tried as an adult.
Prosecutors say the teen took Bright's car and $35.
