The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has said it would institute legal action against the wheat flour importing companies for increasing prices without approval.
CAA Chairman Rumy Marzook has told the media that the Authority would institute legal action against the Prima Group and the Serendib Company for increasing the price of kilo of wheat flour.
The Serendib Company first increased the price of a kilo of wheat flour by Rs. 3 and the Prima Group followed suite by increasing a kilo by Rs. 4.10.
Bakery owners have warned of an increase in wheat flour based food products following the hike in the wheat flour prices.
