An opportunity is now afforded for Tamil youths to enter the Sri Lanka Police Service. Interviews are in progress in many Districts in the North and the East.
Interview to recruit young Tamil men and women to the Police service commenced today. The interviews are in progress in the Vavuniya, Mannar, Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi Districts. The Tamil youth seem to display a keen enthusiasm in joint the Police Service. The prime intention of this effort is to deploy officers who can perform their duties in Tamil, further strengthening the civil administration of the North and East with the total elimination of terrorism from these two Provinces. The Government is of the view that it would be thus able to provide an efficient service to the Tamil speaking community. They will be recruited as Inspectors, Sub Police Inspectors and constables. Long queues were witnessed at the locations the interviews are being held.
