A notable growth in the per capita income

The Economic Development Minister says a notable growth in Sri Lanka’s per capita income will be achieved in the future. He was optimistic that it would surpass 6000 US Dollars within the Western Province.

Minister Basil Rajapaksa said that their intention was to increase the per capita income two fold that is 4000 US Dollars, in their effort to make the country Asia’s Miracle. However, the Minister emphasised that he could proudly say that the per capita income in the Western Province would surpass 6000 US Dollars.

The Minister was addressing a workshop for public representatives elected to Local Government Institutions from the Western Province. The workshop was organized by the Western Provincial Council. The contribution of local bodies in the speedy development of the Western Province including the Colombo City is important. Mr. Rajapaksa pointed out the need for the dedication of local Government Representatives of the Western Province in making Sri Lanka “Asia’s Wonder”. Western Province Governor Alavi Moulana and Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga were present.
