The funeral of Former Bribery Commissioner and Solicitor General Ian Wickremanayake took place in Colombo today.
Mr. Wickremanayake served as the Bribery Commissioner for seven years and rendered yeoman service in alleviating bribery and corruption. He was 82 years at the time of his demise. He died of a heart failure last Thursday. His remains were laid at a Funeral Parlour in Colombo and the funeral was conducted at the General Cemetery Kanatte this afternoon.
Meanwhile the death has occurred of former Deputy Inspector General of Police Amarasena Rajapaksa. He was 79. Amarasena Rajapaksa had served as a Director of a DIG of the Criminal Investigations Department for a long period. He was a skilled and talented investigator as well as an administrator. The remains are lying at his residence at N.G.V. Cooray Mawatha in Rajagiriya. The funeral is scheduled to take place at the General Cemetery Kanatte tomorrow.
