Minister Basil Rajapaksa has pointed out that the effort of the Government was to strengthen the country’s economy. In this respect, he said the President was taking all possible initiatives.
The Minister reiterated that the President’s anticipation was to develop the country as he had succeeded in bringing peace to the country. He is intent on upgrading the living standards of the people who live in the 36 thousand villagers coming under the 14 thousand Grama Niladhari Divisions. Minister Rajapaksa added that the President was taking all appropriate initiatives so that the economic needs of the country are met.
The Minister was speaking at the launching of reconstruction of the Kudaa-gal-metiyawa Tank in Kantale. The estimated expenditure on the work is 18.5 million rupees. The Agrarian Services Ministry is providing the required grants. The reconstruction was launched under the programme of rebuilding 2000 tanks. Ministers Dinesh Gunawadena and S.M. Chandrasena, Eastern Governor Mohan Wijewickrema and Deputy Minister M.K.A.D.S. Gunawardena and Susantha Punchinilame were present.
