Parliamentarians protest the Ban Ki-moon report

Parliamentrians claim that Bank Ki-moon’s baseless Expert Panel Report is a futile attempt made to paralyse the country’s development path.


Minister Sarath Amunugama said that the country at this juncture should protect the war heroes. The Expert Panel had been appointed surpassing the international laws and to seek its recommendations. It is very clear that countries such as Russia and China which are members of the UN Security Council are averse to this move. The Minister pointed out that the soldiers battled the terrorists systematically and with responsibility.

Minister Maithripala Sirisena said that everything was being done by the Government for the benefit of the people and the generations to come. He noted that at a time when the country was traversing on such a journey, pressure was being exerted internationally. It is very clear that his attempt is to realize the dream of the terrorists. The country has a prudent leader. As such, the Minister added that the President will guide in surmounting these challenges, as terrorism was routed successfully.

Minister S.M. Chandrasena said that the people are disturbed by the report, which is an attempt to summon th President to the International Court. He said there are 1.5 million farmers in the country. They planned to get down one million of them to Colombo to protest against the report.
