The government has allocated Rs. 22,000 million to carpet provincial roads in every electorate.<p>
Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa has said a 25 kilometer stretch of provincial roads in each electorate in the country would be carpeted in the manner.
Rajapaksa addressing a meeting Puttalam has said the monies for the project have been allocated from the 2011 budget.
He has said the development of the country’s rural road network was essential to uplift the rural economy.
Rajapaksa has observed that building connectivity between the urban and rural areas helped the country’s overall development.
The Minister has pointed out that the long felt need to repair the country’s road network is now being carried out.
