Arrangements are in place to put up the world’s largest Buddhist Publications and Information Centre in the Sri Lankan capital.
The Sambuddhatva Jayanthi Mandiraya will come up at No: 32, Havelock Road, Colombo 05 in parallel to the 2600th Sambuddhatva Jayanthi. Director of the Buddhist Cultural Centre, the Ven. Kirama Wimalajothi Thera said that the Mandiraya which will have 16 stories would be largest in the world.
A series of programmes is planned to mark the Sambuddhatva Jayanthi. Havelock Road is to be renamed as Sambuddhatva Jayanthi Mawatha. Arrangements are also underway to release 10 Commentary books in Sinhala and Pali for the first time in Sri Lanka’s history. The Ven. Kirama Wimalajothi Thera revealed of plans to launch a Pali-Sinhala Dictionary containing 25,000 words.
