The New Ambassador of the Philippines to Colombo has said that the elimination of terrorism is a great victory achieved by Sri Lanka. He said they are with Sri Lanka in the face of international pressure exerted on the island.
A meeting between the New Ambassador Bahnarim Abu Guinomla and Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne took place at the Prime Minister’s office this morning. The Ambassador emphasized that they and other world friendly countries will not leave Sri Lanka in the lurch in the face of international pressure. He opined that he was delighted to serve as an Ambassador to Sri Lanka which has routed terrorism and work in a friendly atmosphere with every country whether they are big or small. Mr. Guinomla said that the long standing state ties between Sri Lanka and the Philippines had further solidified.
Prime Minister Jayaratne said that Sri Lanka highly appreciated the support given by the Philippines for her future activities. Senior Minister Athauda Seneviratne and Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Philippines Nawalage Bennet Cooray were present at this meeting.
