Eastern Provincial Councilors are to visit the North to receive a first hand account on the internally displaced persons and the resettlement process.
The decision to visit the North was made following the passing of a resolution presented by a Marxist JVP councilor to the effect.
The resolution was passed with 13 members voting for and 11 voting against it. Two members from the ruling party had also voted in favor of the resolution.
Meanwhile, a final decision is yet to be made with regard to the visit to the North by the representatives of the Sri Lankan government and the TNA.
