Media Minister says the Darusman Report will hinder Government’s attempts to reinforce peace

Apr 28, 2011 4:54:35 AM - itnnews.lk

Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has reiterated that the Government strongly rejected the Darusman Report. He emphasized that it was not a UN report but a ‘Darusman Report’.

Addressing the weekly Cabinet media briefing today the Minister pointed out that even though the United States, the United Kingdom and European Commissions christened LTTE as a terrorist outfit, the United Nations which represented those nations has identified it as a ‘disciplined Army.’ However, the Minister mentioned that the release of the report will only hinder the Government’s efforts to reinforce peace, security and stability in Sri Lanka.

Minister Rambukwella revealed that a series of protest campaigns against the Darusman Report as well as the Expert Panel will be organized both locally as well as internationally. The Minister further told a Cabinet news briefing that Sri Lanka, as a sovereign state will be taking steps to make all the international organizations including the Non-aligned Movement and the UN member countries aware of the ingenuity and the biased nature of UN panel report on Sri Lanka.
