The storm system that rolled through South Carolina early Thursday cranked out three tornados in the Midlands, according to the National Weather Service.
Unlike the storms in other states from this system, damage from the S.C. twisters was minimal.
An EF1 tornado touched down near Fort Motte in Calhoun County, with winds of 100 mph snapping trees and damaging a barn and an irrigation system, according to the weather service.
In Sumter County, an EF1 tornado with 90 mph winds touched down several times in a 12-mile swath near Millwood and an EF0 tornado hit the Shiloh community. Most of the Sumter County damage was to trees, according to the weather service report.
An EF5 tornado is considered the most destructive on the weather services scale.
