Rains will continue. Flood waters recede. Four killed and 16,000 displaced

The inclement weather experienced in the peast few days will continue.  Flood waters in several areas are receding.

Deputy Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippili said that four deaths had been reported following the torrential rain experienced in the last few days. He also said that more than 16 thousand had been impacted.

Mr. Kodippili said that disastrous situations had been reported from the Ratnapura, Galle, Kalutara, Matara and Hambantota Districts. Particularly, in the Ratnapura district over 16 thousand had been affected yesterday and today. The water of the Kalu Ganga rose resulting in flooding in low lying areas. Four deaths have also been reported. He added that the Disaster Management Ministry along with the Disaster Management Centre was providing relief through coordinating units.
