The Sri Lankan working class is ready to commemorate Labour Day tomorrow making more meaningful the world labour force.
Workers in factories as well as worksites who shed sweat for a better future unite tomorrow. They commemorate with pride the Day which enabled them to win their rights after many struggles. It is after several years that massive May Day rallies are being organized by main parties in Sri Lanka which had been totally liberated from terrorism. A majority of the working class is ready to join hands in unity to strengthen the mega development programmes which the Government had mooted in making Sri Lanka “Asia’s Miracle” and to defeat treacherous forces which are against it.
The United People’s Freedom Alliance is organizing its massive May Day rally in collaboration with 16 parties. Its theme is “A drop of sweat for the Motherland and a Public fortress to protect the country.” A number of processions organized from various directions in the City of Colombo will wend its way to the Colombo Town Hall grounds in the afternoon.
In the meantime, the United National Party will stage its May Day rally in the Bndarawala town. It is scheduled to commence tomorrow morning. The May Day rally of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna will be held at the BRC Grounds in Colombo. Other parties and Trade Unions have also organized May Day Programmes at several locations countrywide.
