President Rajapaksa addressing the May Day Rally in Colombo said that opportunities have been paved for children who had cyanide capsules tied to their necks to pursue their studies.
The President queried as to which country fed fighters in a war. He said Sri Lanka was the only country which adhered to such a policy. Massive development has taken place in the North and East. Youth who had cyanide capsules tied to their necks re now studying chemistry. They have entered Medical Colleges. The President queried whether this amounted to a flagrant violation of human rights or a war crime. He also queried whether it was a violation of human rights by granting an opportunity for a generation which was ready to engage in suicide operations to live in freedom. He said no one should give into Dollars. Some who wrote articles had not at all visited the North. He recalled how the troops carried the old and the children to safety. This was how the troops acted. As such he called on those who pen articles not to forget these facts.
