May has become a significant as it was during this month that ruthless terrorism had suffered the most severe setbacks.
The month of May begins with indelible memories for the working population in the world. The entire Sri Lankan nation also cannot forget the month of May. It was mainly because that peace was established in the motherland in May. The 30-year-old war which plagued the country drew to an end on the 18th of May in 2009. This chapter was closed with the killing of Velupillai Prabhakaran, the brutal and ruthless terrorist leader. The sun dawned on this day with the message of peace to the entire motherland. On the 18th of May, the courageous war heroes, with the prudent leadership of President Rajapaksa, the Commander in Chief and the guidance of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa were able to silence terrorism which the world considered could not be ended and murder the terrorist leader which the world assured to be indomitable and invincible. As a result, the entire nation re-awakened and the fear psychosis disappeared.
The National Flag fluttered in the blue sky. Caste, religious and other differences disappeared. Everyone got on to the streets and expressed their joy and happiness eating milk rice and sweetmeats. The President taught to the entire world the lesson of eliminating terrorism. The Sri Lankan lesson was an appropriate lesson to the world.
That was in the past.
And now, President Barack Obama, considered to be the most powerful in the world has perused that lesson. President Obama announced to the entire world today the death of Osama Bin Laden who was a phobia and headache to the entire world, unaware of where he was. Bin Laden, a product of the Western world, devastated the World Trade Centre in the United States on 11th September 2001 and headed the terrorist list. He spread brutal terrorism in the world, studying suicide terrorist lesson from Velupillai Prabhakaran. Our war heroes went in search of Prabhakaran through a face to face battle and shattering strongholds. Obama’s troops went in search of Bin Laden in search of Al Qaeda terrorist camps in Pakistan, launching air strikes.
Finally troops of Obama succeeded in ending the terrorist life of Osama by Obama on the the Day the World commemorate Labour Day, telling Bin Laden the fate that should finally befall terrorism and the terrorists. The entire Sri Lankan nation got on to the streets to celebrate peace on the 18th of May 2009. A similar situation prevails in the United States, reminding Sri Lankans the joy they experienced. American may extend their greetings to Barack Obama made more meaningful the lesson taught by President Rajapaksa as to how terrorism should be destroyed. However, no one in the world will say that Obama would have flouted anyone’s human rights by killing Osama Bin Laden. It should also be the lesson of an end to the Chapter of terrorism.
