14 Clauses in the Prevention of Mosquito Breeding Act No. 11 of 2007 will be amended.
The Health Ministry said that the amendments are needed to take stern action against people who provide grounds conducive to mosquito breeding. Therefore, the Act number 12 of 2007 that is related to prevention of mosquito breeding will be amended so as the legal action can be initiated quickly against those responsible for running breeding grounds.
The amendments are to be presented to Parliament after securing cabinet approval. In the meantime, the Public Health Inspectors Association said that 1657 persons had been indicted last year for maintaining mosquito breeding grounds
