A ten-year plan to minimize road accidents

150 motor accidents are reported throughout the country daily. 6 deaths are also reported. The Government has a ten-year plan to minimize accidents.

The Plan to minimize accidents is due to released on the 11th of this month under the patronage of President Rajapaksa. The number of deaths reported by road accidents during the last 10 years is 21.050. The ten year plans will be launched by the National Council for Prevention of Road Accidents and the Parliamentary Select Committee on the Prevention of Road Accidents to overcome this situation.

The plan includes program e to educate school children and the public on prevention of road accidents. The media was briefed on the Plan and the news conference was presided by Minister Kumara Welgama. It was held at the Information Department.
