Columbia traffic will be disrupted on Gladden Street starting Monday between Trenholm Road and Webster Street so a contractor hired by the city can rehabilitate water lines.
Some city water customers in the 1200-1400 blocks of Hagood Avenue in the area near Melrose Park may experience interruptions of service during the work. The contractor will try to keep interruptions to a minimum, a city official said.
The work, which will involve installing water valves at the water storage tank on Gladden Street, is scheduled to go from 8 a.m. to noon beginning Monday. It will continue until finished.
The work is part of a project to overhaul water lines along Gervais Street from the Congaree River to Trenholm Road.
For further information, call (803) 545-3400 and ask for Owen Livingston or Jeremy Yates of the citys utilities and engineering department. For water emergencies after hours, residents may call (803) 545-3900.
